Thanks once again to everyone who joined us for the 2nd You Are The Media GAME NITE! Despite the competitive nature of the event, it was such a lovely atmosphere and just what we needed at the end of a tough month in the news.
As per last time, I’ve put together a match report and leaderboard. You’ll see that this combines both the singles points from our 1st event and this week’s team results (thank you Mark for your expert score keeping!).
THE MATCH REPORT: Champions Of The Media, Wednesday 28th September 2022 at Lighthouse, Poole

Our first team tournament became a fatal three-way as Teams Burn and Lips faced a late addition to the match, Team Cake, led by Jake ‘The Cake’ Moore and featuring Caitlyn ‘The Smiling Assassin’ Walters who brought 11 points with her from her singles match in March.
It looked like Team Lips were on the ropes from the off, with captain Lucy Lips unable to attend due to an altercation with the RSPCA and the RSPB regarding comments made about the competition’s pigeon trophy. Fortunately Christophe ‘The Deadline Devil’ Stourton was able to hold fort in her absence.
All teams faired well in the first round BRANDTASTIC, which quizzed players on their knowledge of products best known by a brand name (and vice versa). The second round HEADLINE TIMELINE, in which our teams had to place 10 news stories in chronological order, proved more of a challenge.
The specialist subject round saw some unforgettable intros from each designated contestant. John ‘The Wire King’ Jocham entered the room arms swinging to AC/DC’s Thunderstruck and took home 3 points on US state capital cities.
Zelda de Hollander (whose actual name is so cool she doesn’t need anything else) threw up the devils horns as she stepped in for previously confirmed contestant Steen Stones (equally cool name) and scored 2 points for her chosen subject, mid 2000’s emo.
Jake The Cake failed to live up to his name with just 2 points for his namesake subject, cake. It was his entrance that will be long remembered, leaping across an empty chair, landing in a barrel roll and crashing into a YATM pull up board.
The final round tasked each team with picking three questions at random on the topic of Poole. They could choose to allocate 5, 3 or 1 point based on their confidence in the answer. Team Burn managed a perfect round that secured a second win for captain Enrique Burnado. 🔥
