YATM Lunch Club November 2023

The final You Are The Media lunch club of the year was expertly hosted by Lee Taylor, with a special guest, all the way from the other side of the planet, Trevor Young. I’ve really enjoyed the lunch clubs since they returned this year in July, back to their classic format, at the new venue of Pi on Poole Quay (the vegan pizza is really good).

As over the top (no pun intended) as it may seem to have a costume change at a networking event, it’s always something of a strange honour to don the referee shirt for another world record attempt. Mark Williams and Rachel Williams gave ‘the most toilet rolls stacked in 30 seconds’ a good go, but neither of them were anywhere close to the record. Mark entered the ‘YATM Books of Records’ however with 12.

It feels in the spirit of what Mark Masters has established with YATM to get others involved, which is why I dragged Dan Jones from Trail Creatives up to the front for his first lunch club, to be a cheerleader with one of the foam fingers. I love his face in the photo above (he’s in the salmon t-shirt) “what on earth is going on..?” – Perfect!

The next day a smaller group of us reconvened at Foundry for a workshop with Trevor, planning out a comms / content creation activity we’d all commit to for 2024.

With it having been a busy year on a few unexpected fronts for Grapevine, I’d fallen at the first hurdle on our ‘Tech Journeys’ series of case studies I had planned, and even made a start on. I chose this to bring to the workshop and came away with a renewed energy for the idea, based on the helpful feedback from Trevor, Mark and everyone else around the table.
