When I ran the Saint November Records, I used to include a handwritten note with each order I sent out. People told me they liked these and in the years since have messaged to say they kept them. Overnight I received a message from someone to share that not only did they keep the note, they store it inside the record sleeve. 🤯
It was incredible to get to work with the artists that we did. To see our label logo on the artwork of iconic records (this one won a Grammy!) was something I could never have even dreamt of happening when I started out, sharing CD-R copies of bands’ demos at local shows.
To be included as part of someone’s experience and enjoyment of their favourite album is next level though. This transcends any achievement the label had in a business sense.
It took me twice as long during my evenings and weekends to pack the orders because I was stopping to write these notes for each one. I’m so grateful to this person and their kind message, it makes all those hours worthwhile.
