For the past three years I’ve been donning this referee shirt for You Are The Media Game Nite and our world record attempts. It all started in the spirit of ‘joining in’, which I spoke about at Creator Day in April.
It’s only possible to encourage others joining in, if you know when to make the space for people to do so. Mark Masters is a trailblazer for this principle, handing the reigns to others to host YATM events.
So, it’s in the natural order of things that someone else should get to have a go at playing this part I’ve enjoyed having the honour of in our community. I can’t think of a better time to pass the baton than following our first successful setting of a world record yesterday, Alix King, 89 hugs in 60 seconds (the previous holder managed 88).
Like any ‘end of term’ party, I had everyone sign the shirt. Not all the messages were SFW so I’m not sharing it in full. Instead here’s Claire Main taking her turn signing. Claire has been the biggest advocate for what we do with the Game Nite events, I hope she’ll consider hosting one in the future so I can enjoy being on the ‘player’ side.
